Day 1. Nairobi-Kisumu
Leave Nairobi after your breakfast at a hotel and head for Kisumu with a brief photo stop at the Great Rift Valley view point. Lunch in Nakuru then proceed to the Tea plantation town,Kericho.Arrival in Kisumu is in the early evening for a hotel check-in. Time permitting and with a clear weather, your guide will take you for an introductory tour of Kisumu City.
Day 2. Kisumu- Kogello Village (Siaya)
You will be served with breakfast then leave for the ancestral land of Obama at Kogello Village which is a return day trip. Packed lunch will be handy. While at the Village, you will be free to ask the family spokesman as many questions as possible, exploring in depth, the historical background of the family and the entire Luo Community. Here you will be able to unearth the origin of the Kogello people. Time permitting; you will be treated on a walking tour of the neighboring villages sampling and comparing their living lifestyles, taking as many photos as possible. With a feeling of enough for the day, you will be driven back to your Kisumu hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3. Kisumu-Kendu Bay
Tracing Obama roots without visiting Kendu-Bay pose incomplete research. The entire family has roots traced to/from this small but famous town in the Greater South Nyanza Province, a long Lake Victoria. While at this place, the villagers will be very much willing to assist and to volunteer appropriate information concerning the same. Packed lunch will be necessary. In the late afternoon, you will be driven to Homa-Bay, the Lake Side town for a sumptuous dinner and a sound night rest.
Day 4. Homa-Bay-Maasai Mara
Morning breakfast then depart to Maasai Mara Game Reserve via Kisii, soapstone carving town and a banana and tea growing town. Lunch will be taken in Maasai Mara. You may decide to relax in your hotel as you go through your notes or may take a short evening game drive a waiting a full day of game drive the following day. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 5. Maasai Mara.
Breakfast will be followed by a full day of game drives within the reserve. You will have a break at the hippo pool for your picnic lunch. At the Mara you should expect to see three out of the big five namely elephant, lion and buffalo though luck is essential to track the other two that is rhino and leopard which are very shy and elusive. A wide variety of antelopes and other plains game can be seen. Scavengers like hyenas and vultures are common. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6. Masai Mara
After breakfast depart on a morning game drive in this reserve, which is essentially the northern extension of Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. Lunch at the lodge . In the afternoon you have a choice of three activities:- a game drive or a nature walk with our Masai guides; the final choice is a visit to a Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle at an extra cost payable directly to the Masai villagers. All activities end at the lodge by 6.30 p.m. where you will retire for the night after dinner.
Day 7. Masai Mara /Nairobi
After breakfast and your final game drive, return to Nairobi or continue to Mombassa for one of our Beach Specials.
